Trackbacks, explained

Trackback is basicly a link of reference to other websites, blogs, where you might have wanted to comment, critique or to refer to as a source of information. It will automatically ping the server of that specific website, so the owner of the original site is notified about your trackback. The result effect is that your website's popularity increases and you gain authority in that specific topic for gather opinions from various different sources.

1. You should start by enabling trackback from any public websites. Enable this option by going into options->blog settings.

Few changes Live Spaces should consider to make

I just can't take it anymore, because Live Space isn't doing a good job.

The only reason I'm still using Live Space is because of it gets more people to see my space. But then right now, most of the traffic I get is from search engines.

There are few things I hate and I think Live Space should consider changes in following aspects to make it more accessible:

1. The thing I hate is that each web page loads so slow. Live Space should cut down on the fancy modules, and bandwidth/cpu consumption.

2. The second thing I hate so much is that Live Space doesn't support multiple-categories for an article.

3. The third thing I hate is that sometime I just can't sign in, it tells me to try later... Too many people are using live space!!!!!

4. Some of the functions of these fancy modules don't work on my IE 6!!! Every time I try to change a category when edit a post, it kicks me back to the main page!!!!

5. The technical support is quick and polite. But email they sent is the same except the name of the technician!!! Badly enough, never have I receive any specific solutions to my probelms from them!!!

6. Last!!! My browser often freezes when I visit my own space, when I look up the tast manager. My explore eats about 200mb of memory!!! LIve space have memory leaks!!!

How to generate income with Windows Live Space

As I promised earlier, I will give you few professional marketing tips about generating money with your space.

THere are basicly two ways of generating cash with Windows Live Space

1. Sponsored Links

I see Takin is trying very hard himself. hehe. Anyway, Simply Click 'Customize' option which is located at top right. When a windows pops up which allow you to choose modules and themes. Click 'Other' tab, and click 'Sponsored Link' tab. Ok, we are about 50% done, now is the hardest part...

You Sponsored Link module will appear and it will say that you need to setup a corresponding Kanoodle account. Click that link which directs you to Kanoodle's website. Carefully fill up the reguirements, *You don't need to fill that tax number field, for the categories, when press 'ctrl; you can select more than one categories. Now it's done. But you might ask, how come I don't see the adverts displayed? Actually, after you registered, someone from Kanoodle will come to your space and approve your registration, so please be patient and wait few days, they will email you.

Sponsored LInks
After you are approved... This step takes alot of patience... You might wonder, how do I get paid? When other visitors come visit your space, they will see a bunch of advertisements, if they click them, you will get paid per click!!

Sponsored Links
FAQ

*How come sometimes the ad's are there and sometimes not?
>> I don't know

*How come others get paid like 1 dollar per click but I get like 2 cents per click?
>> It's becaue your space have been evaluated as non profittable by kanoodle.

2. Amazon Affiliated Book Selling

I'm not completelly familiar with this one just yet. But Ideally, when you set up a book list, you can connect each book with amazon's, so when someone clicks your book to amazon, then they buy it. You get a portion of the profit. Of course, this will require you to register an account in Amazon as well.

Well, That's about today's tips, I wish you best of luck in generating some beer money. hehe

Windows Live...MetalicKL's Space.

After few days of struggle, (yes, often MSN Space crashed and unable to visit) Windows Live Space gave a thunderbolt blow to it's competing rivals, MySpace and Yahoo 360 (I think that's the name) around 3 O'clock, 1 August -_-. Frankly, the service was delivered half a month early than MS promised.

With the integrated support from Windows Live Messenger, Windows Live Space is more intimidating. Yes, much more simpler, user friendly interface. One thing particularly catched my attention was the elimination of the margin and widened content in comparison to the original. Two other improvements of WLS is the friend circle module... Visitor could marvel at incredible number of friends you have. Second major improvement is the customizable gadgets that are avaliable to be add onto your space. You can visit http://gallery.live.com/default.aspx?l=1 and browse for your favourite gadgets, and simply click 'Add To Your Space'...

Windows Live Space

One last thing I gotta say before letting myself explore the new improved ML series... While you are enjoying and benefiting from all the services. Keep yourself from being exploited and overwhelmed from their propaganda. Stay simple and classy, be a professional like me (-_- j/k), don't install their tool bars and other things that they claim will make your life easier.

Have fun guys. ~

PS for the sake of education... as one of the main themes of my space. Why it's called live space... It's because it uses the technology of Web 2.0, where most of the information is store on the remote servers.... Really, this time... Have fun guys~~ hehe

Windows Live update Module For MSN Spaces

Talking about Live Favorites -- from the space craft

How many times have you found a really cool web site that you want to share with your friends?  How many times have you been asked a question that can be answered with a web site you’ve seen before, and now you have to go find it and send it out again?  You’ve spent so much time browsing the internet, collecting your favorite links, carefully organizing and sorting them.  Wouldn’t it be great to be able to share them with your friends or the world?  Now you can with Windows Live Favorites and the now available Live Favorites Spaces module.

How does this work?

Live Favorites allows you to store, sort, and share your Internet Favorites online.  You create an account in Live Favorites and add your internet favorites.  You can then access your favorites anytime, anywhere and then you can share them with friends and others.

With Live Favorites you can:

  • Access your favorites anytime, anywhere by signing into the Live Favorites website
  • Import / Export your favorites using the Live Favorites MSN Toolbar Plug-in
  • Share your favorites via MSN Spaces and the new Windows Live Favorites sharing module

How do I get started?

There are two parts to this: creating your Live Favorites account and sharing your favorites.

To create your Live Favorites account: go to http://favorites.live.com and click the “Sign In” link in the upper right-hand corner.  Once you sign in via Passport, your account will be created for you.  Now start uploading your favorites:

  • Use the “Add Favorite” button in the upper left-hand corner to add a new favorite
  • Use the “Import” button in the upper left-hand corner to import your favorites from Internet Explorer
  • Download and install the Live Favorites Toobar Plug-In for MSN Toolbar to have access to both of these features from your toolbar

To share your favorites, do the following:

  • If you use the “Add Favorite” button on the web-site, select the option to share the favorite
  • If you import your favorites, go to the web site, select a favorite, right click, go to “Properties”, and select to share the favorite

You can now show others your shared favorites by simply adding the “Windows Live Favorites” module to your Space.

Please note that the “Windows Live Favorites” module is currently only available in the United States (English).   We will be extending support to international markets soon, please stay tuned to the Live Favorites Space for updates.

For more info, see the Live Favorites Space at http://spaces.msn.com/livefavorites .

**In the summer of 2006, MSN Spaces will evolve to become Windows Live Spaces, a more powerful version, and the future of user-generated content-creation and content-sharing.
